Olga Khokhlova was a ballerina with the Ballets Russes whom Picasso met in 1917 and married the following year. During his relationship with Olga, Picasso returned to a more realistic and traditional artistic style, a departure from his Cubist period. The etching is numbered 46/65, indicating that it is the 46th print from an edition of 65.
