Fine Art, Etching, Jean-Ferdinand Chaigneau, "
Pasturage Normand" is an etching by French artist Charles Émile Jacque (1813–1894). Jacque was a member of the Barbizon school of painters, known for his pastoral scenes and animal subjects. He was a prolific printmaker and is especially recognized for his etchings, which were inspired by 17th-century Dutch techniques. The etching, also known as "Pasturage in Normandy," depicts a landscape with cattle. The work is a representative example of his later style, which was more delineated and realistic than his earlier work.
Jacque was a well-respected artist who preceded and influenced his colleague Jean-François Millet in the painting of rural scenes and peasants.
