Toros Villavres 1958

Mounted Museum gift shop repro litho of an original linocut fine art print, non live signature. Description of the original follows : well-known original poster titled Toros Vallauris 1958 by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. It is a colour linocut created to advertise the annual bullfights in the French town of Vallauris. Artwork Details Artist: Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) Title: Toros Vallauris 1958 (Bulls in Vallauris) Medium: Colour linocut on wove paper Date Created: June 24, 1958 Description: The artwork uses a reductive linocut method, combining black and orange ink on paper to depict an abstract bullfighter (torero) in full costume. Picasso used the same linoleum block to print an orange background, then carved into the block and printed black on top to achieve the final image. Printer & Publisher: Printed by Hidalgo Arnéra in Vallauris Editions: The original linocut was produced in an edition of 125. Later lithographic reproductions were also made in 1959 and 1964.
