classic psychedelic concert poster created by artist Gary Grimshaw for a performance by the bands the MC5 and the Chosen Few at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit on October 7-8, 1966. This poster, often referred to as "The Seagull" poster, holds historical significance as the first in the Grande Ballroom poster series.

Artwork Information
Artist: Gary Grimshaw. He was friends with the MC5 band members from high school and went on to design many iconic posters for the venue.
Style: The poster was printed in a "San Francisco style" of psychedelic rock art and includes the "Uncle Russ Travel Agency" logo, a nod to Bill Graham's Fillmore posters.
Originals: Original first printings are rare and valuable collectibles, often fetching thousands of dollars at auction. Reprints and handbills were also produced in later years, sometimes signed and numbered by the artist. |
