Boys Do Your Duty
Antikbar halfsheet "Boys Do Your Duty" is a
World War I propaganda poster created by American artist Harry Westerman in 1918.
Poster Details

Purpose: The poster aimed to encourage children to support the war effort financially.
Message: The text at the bottom reads, "You Can Help Big Brother By Buying Thrift Stamps Fill Your Card". By purchasing ten-cent thrift stamps and filling a card, children could eventually trade them in to help buy a larger Liberty Bond, thus contributing to war funding.
Imagery: It depicts a young boy in a military uniform saluting, flanked by an American soldier (left) and a sailor (right), portraying the act of buying stamps as a patriotic duty on par with military service.
Historical Context: During WWI, various campaigns targeted civilians, including children, to raise funds for the war, and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts were active in selling these stamps and bonds.
