Nach New York
One sheet, The poster depicts a stylized image of a ship's smokestack with the text "NACH NEW YORK" (To New York) prominently at the top. It is a vintage travel poster from the Hamburg-Amerika Linie, also known as the Hamburg-America Line or HAPAG. The poster was created to advertise transatlantic travel to New York from Hamburg.
The poster is attributed to an artist named either Paul Theodore Etbauer or Hugo Koeke, and is dated to around 1930. The text on the poster promises travel that is "SCHNELL, BILLIG, BEQUEM," which translates to "fast, cheap, comfortable". The Hamburg-America Line was a major shipping company established in 1847 that served the German market for emigration to the United States. It was a dominant force in transatlantic travel for many years. In 1970, the company merged with its rival, Norddeutscher Lloyd, to form the present-day company Hapag-Lloyd.
