Motorenfabrik Obersef
One sheet Ludwig Hohlwein, The image shows a vintage German advertising poster for the
Oberurseler Umlaufmotor aircraft engine, created by the German graphic designer Ludwig Hohlwein around 1914. The poster features two German soldiers inspecting a rotary aircraft engine attached to a propeller and an early aircraft. The text on the poster reads "Oberurseler Umlaufmotor" and "Motorenfabrik Oberursel," which translates to "Oberursel rotary engine" and "Oberursel Engine Factory" respectively.
Motorenfabrik Oberursel was a German company that produced automobile, locomotive, and aircraft engines. During World War I, the company was a crucial supplier of rotary engines for German military aircraft, including the famous Fokker Dr. I triplane and the Fokker Eindecker monoplane. In 1916, Anthony Fokker bought the company to ensure a steady supply of engines for his aircraft.
Today, the Oberursel factory is part of Rolls-Royce Deutschland and is considered the oldest surviving aircraft engine factory in the world.
