FD 29 Jim Kweskin Jug Band
Concert poster
This is a psychedelic concert poster
created by artists Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley for a show at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, California. The concert took place on October 7-8, 1966, and featured the Jim Kweskin Jug Band, Big Brother and the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin), and Electric Train. The poster is often referred to as "The Woman with Green Hair" or "Girl with Green Hair".
The central image is a psychedelic reinterpretation of an 1896 advertisement for JOB rolling papers by the Czech Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha. The poster is notable because it was released the day after LSD was made illegal in California.
This poster is part of the Family Dog poster series and is designated as FD-29.
