Golden Arrow
One sheet Southern British Railways, Golden Arrow
: Pullman Day Service to Paris
The image is a vintage travel poster advertising the "Golden Arrow" (French: Flèche d'Or), a luxury boat train service that operated between London and Paris. The service was created by the Southern Railway and ran from 1929 until 1972, with a suspension during World War II.
The train was known for its luxurious, all-Pullman first-class service and was considered one of the world's most glamorous trains. Passengers would travel on the train from London's Victoria Station to Dover, take a ferry across the English Channel to Calais, and then board a connecting train to Paris. The journey was designed to be a seamless, first-class experience. The artwork for this poster was created by W.S. Bagdatopoulos around 1929.
