Photo famous still from the classic 1933 monster movie
King Kong
. The scene depicted is known as the "log scene" or "spider pit sequence".
Scene Details

Film: The original black-and-white King Kong
(1933), directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack.
Characters: The giant ape, Kong, and one of the human crew members from the ship Venture.
Plot Point: During a rescue mission to save Ann Darrow (Fay Wray), the crew members attempt to cross a massive fallen tree that bridges a deep ravine on Skull Island.
The Action: In a display of brutality and ingenuity, Kong appears and shakes the log, causing most of the men to fall to their deaths in the ravine below, where they are menaced by giant spiders in a now-deleted scene.
Special Effects: The film was a pioneer in special effects, using stop-motion animation for Kong, created by Willis O'Brien. The "log scene" is noted for its blend of live-action shots with miniature models and special effects.
