Airline: Air Ceylon was the national flag carrier of Ceylon from 1947 until it ceased operations in 1979 and was replaced by Air Lanka (now SriLankan Airlines).
Service: The "Sapphire Service" was the name given to their international long-haul flights, specifically the route connecting Colombo to European destinations like London and Amsterdam, and extending to Sydney in Australia.
Aircraft: These long-haul routes utilized aircraft such as the Lockheed L-749 Constellation and later the larger L-1049 Super Constellation, often leased from partner airline KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Artwork: The poster was created by the Dutch artist Mart Kempers (1924-1993) around the 1950s.
