Mad Tea Party
"A Mad Tea Party" by Salvador Dalí, a surrealist artist known for his eccentric and imaginative works. The piece is one of twelve illustrations that Dalí created for a limited-edition book of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, published in 1969 by Random House.
The image depicts a scene from the book's chapter of the same name, rendered in Dalí's distinctive surrealist style. A melting clock, a recurring motif in his work, is featured on the tree trunk. The artwork also includes a small, silhouetted figure of a girl with a jump rope, representing Alice, a symbol that Dalí had used in other works.
The illustrations were originally created using heliogravure, a photomechanical process that produces detailed, high-quality images.
