The Invisible Man
The Invisible Man, "Catch me if you can!", Advance One Sheet, Director: James Whale,
Writers: H.G. Wells (novel), R.C. Sherriff (screenplay),
Stars: Claude Rains, Gloria Stuart, William Harrigan.
Poster has been previously lined onto very heavy linenbacking comprised of a thick canvas and white paper substrate, neither this lining, nor any restoration was performed by Poster Mountain Inc.
Significant planar distortion at the top of the poster in the area where it had been adhered to the matt board appears to have been caused by uneven expansion/contraction of the lining when exposed to the aqueous adhesive (Rhoplex) that was used directly on the verso of the canvas when the poster was mounted to the board. The horizontal glue line is approx 16 inches long across the top verso and two vertical glue lines right and left top are approx 6 inches long.
The poster has been retouched at all the fold lines using water colors and colored pencil, the wear on the poster prior to retouching is typical for a folded movie poster of this vintage. There is a small area of paper loss in the left margin approx 1/4 inch in diameter that has been retouched also. There are two small bits of physical damage just below the right-most eye which have not been retouched.
