A Young Grandpa
charcoal drawing

Procedures

Art was ripped, cracked and broken into 100's of pieces throughout entire piece, primarily at top. We applied hot gelatin as a fixative/ consolidant with an airbrush to surface using many, many coats. Art was then washed between hollytex and mylar using cold water. Art was mounted face down on hollytex with gelatin only (facing). After fully cured excess hollytex was cut away and art was mounted face up on okawara. Restoration included filling of holes and replacing missing paper, airbrush was used extensively, other media included colored pencil and charcoal.
