one sheet, San Francisco, Golden Gate International Exposition, printed in 1937, Schmidt Litho, SF |
Mounted to linen with a masa paper substrate. Poster was coated with a varnish-like gloss that had trapped dirt and yellowed the colors significantly. A chemical treatment was applied and removed with a water-dampened cotton cloth. Paper losses were replaced with similar vintage paper and a filling compound. Faded colors were restored using water-soluble airbrush paint. |
